He has worked for two different Local Authority Advisory services including work as an accredited School Improvement Partner. He has also taken part in full section 5 inspection of schools in various local authorities.

As CEO he had experience of very different schools joining his Trust including Outstanding and Inadequate Church and Community schools.  David’s leadership and emphasis on teamwork has resulted in significant and evidential school improvement from schools previously requiring special measures. His trust successfully bid for funding that resulted in the creation of a new Secondary school. David has been on the receiving end of legal support from some very different providers and has led two Multi Academy Trusts working together as one.

David brings a highly specialist skill set and expertise to PHP.  His first-hand knowledge of all aspects of school leadership both in the maintained sector, academy sector and in the Diocese mean he is uniquely placed to provide advice on all aspects of school leadership.

 What do others say?

“You are a hugely important person to Bishop Lonsdale and in particular, the staff. Your support, guidance and advice, when the school was going through the toughest of times, was greatly appreciated.”

Malcolm Hetherington, Executive Headteacher

Our school ethos -to Nurture and Cherish the children in our care, is based upon the values that Dave demonstrated to us when the school hit difficult times. Every single member of staff who worked alongside him felt Cherished – he nurtured our strengths and helped us see how we could move the school forward in successfully providing for the needs of the children and our community. We will be forever grateful for his ongoing advice and support.”

Kerry Marsh, Headteacher, Newbold Church School.

“I cannot begin to tell you what an honour and privilege it was to work with you.”

Mark Mallender CEO, DDAT

“From the moment I first met you (and that was you in an Ofsted capacity and myself a terrified headteacher!) you managed to fill me with confidence and self-belief that I could succeed. Then, from a distance I was able to witness you ensuring that all who worked with and for you, had that some confidence, support and guidance that I saw many years earlier. Your passion for education, the love for all of the children and the belief that they deserve the very best, no-matter what background they come from, was inspirational to see. Dave you led by example and it was and absolute pleasure to work for you, You are greatly missed.”

Jackie Stirland, Senior School Improvement Officer, DDAT
