An Introduction to Me: Amy Fleet -Senior HR Consultant

July 2022

I have recently joined PHP Law as Senior HR Consultant, following my previous role as HR Adviser for a multi academy trust of 18 primary schools across Devon.

After having taken several years out with raising a young family, I decided to retrain in the field of HR in readiness for my return to work. Alongside completing my level 3 CIPD at South Devon College, I was successfully appointed as a HR Administrator. Shortly after starting in my new role, the small company I was working for was sold to a large corporate company. As the only remaining member of HR staff onsite, this led me to take ownership of the HR function collaborating with the corporate company by means of virtual support when needed. Having been thrown in at the deep end, I learnt a lot very quickly. It was also very interesting to go through a TUPE process so very early in my HR journey with the sale of the business.

After a relatively short period of time the decision was made to sell the company again, involving another TUPE process. Now taking sole responsibility for the management of the HR department, I returned to South Devon College to complete my Level 5 CIPD.

Following this, I secured a role at St Christopher’s multi-academy trust as a HR Advisor which I started in September 2020. The role gave me valuable experience in many aspects of case work across absence management, disciplinary, grievance, restructures, and TUPE-out projects just to name a few.

In addition, I joined St Christopher’s right at the beginning of their centralisation project which enabled me to build my own processes within the HR team. I managed investigations, supported in dismissal hearings, and led various consultations throughout my time with the Trust. It was during this period that I also worked alongside PHP for legal support.

I am also a magistrate and have a strong interest in law. As such when the opportunity to work within a HR capacity at PHP arose, it was the ideal opportunity for me to combine both HR and Law.

In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano, taking my dog for long coastal walks with my family and paddleboarding.
